How to Get Certified?
Certification programs are available in the Suhaila Salimpour Belly Dance Format (SSBD) and the Jamila Salimpour Belly Dance Format (JSBD). Suhaila's online classes, publications, audio download training tools and instructional CDs/DVDs were developed to assist students with home practice towards testing and maintaining proficiency in both Suhaila’s and Jamila’s formats.
Certifications remain valid for two years and may be extended either by either testing for a higher level or completing the requisite number of Continuing Education Credit's (CEC's). More information about maintaining certification status can be found here.
Testing for all dance levels is provided throughout the year at the Suhaila Salimpour School of Belly Dance in Albany, California.
Suhaila Format certification testing fees*:
- SSBD Level 1: (Basics) $150
- SSBD Level 2: (Fundamentals) $250
- SSBD Level 3: (Intermediate) $350
- SSBD Level 4: (Advanced) $450
- SSBD Level 5: (Teaching Certificate) $550
Jamila Format certification testing fees*:
- JSBD Level 1: (Basics & Fundamentals) $150
- JSBD Level 2: (Advanced) $250
- JSBD Level 3: (Teaching Certificate) $350
*To undergo certification testing, you must be a current member of the Suhaila Salimpour School of Belly Dance (SSSBD).
